This training addresses how to lift objects properly to prevent injury. This training starts off explaining the parts of the back muscles and how they work together. The video focuses on how to lift properly so the spine and back are not injured, either with acute or chronic injuries. Proper posture and the distribution of weight are some ways to initially prevent injury.
The video instruction is divided into six major sections, plus an Introduction. There is a question and answer at the end of each section, before moving onto the next. The major sections include; The Back’s Structure and Function, Preparing for a Lift, The Mechanics of Safe Lifting, Below the Waist Lifting, Planning a “Carry”, and Conclusion. The training gives proper direction and techniques to avoid injury when lifting or carrying objects. This is valuable for workers in all jobs requiring one to lift or move heavy objects.
