Overview

Many workers have to handle hazardous chemicals. Even though protective equipment is worn and safe work practices are followed, accidents can happen. It is important to always be aware of the properties and risks involved with using a hazardous material. To prepare viewers for working with hazardous chemicals this training video explains what a Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) is and how to use it.

This course talks about the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) Material Safety Data Sheet and the four areas it covers: the material and its hazards; what to do if a problem occurs; taking precautions; and other important information. The ANSI MSDS has sixteen sections, and viewers are given an overview. For example, Section 3 identifies hazards by appearance, color, and odor; and Section 4 contains first aid instructions in case of contact with the chemical.

Knowing how to find and understand safety information regarding the chemical you work with is critical. Learn where to find hazardous chemical handling information and emergency procedures by taking this course.
