Overview

Sprains of ligaments and muscles often result from pulling, pushing, lifting, twisting and assuming unnatural postures or positions; all are factors in work-related back injuries. Preventing injuries to the back is every worker's personal responsibility.

This training video explains the importance of assuming a neutral posture while performing tasks, performing proper stretches to warm up such as neck stretches, shoulder rolls, hamstring stretches, Achilles stretches and hand stretches, and performing or posture relief stretches to counterbalance muscle stress. The video presents step-by-step techniques for lifting safely, turning, walking while carrying a load and placing a load. Performing a two-person lift is also explained.

The training stresses taking personal responsibility for being fit, maintaining a healthy weight and using a neutral posture and proper lifting techniques to ensure a healthy future. Anyone who lifts regularly or even occasionally should watch this video to become aware of how to lift and work more safely.
