Overview

This online training video shows workers the different hazards posed by jobs requiring ladders, what is needed to ensure a ladder is in proper working order, and how to spot possible risks associated with ladder use.

The program shows how protocol for ladder use starts with the selection of the right ladder and extends to ladder inspection, set-up, moving, climbing and finally working atop a ladder. The video shows practices such as the "belt buckle rule" and use of tool belts and hoists to help workers maintain proper balance and safety while working on a ladder.

The video stresses accident avoidance while working on a ladder through respect for and understanding of a ladder's function and addresses the steps to take if an accident occurs. It highlights how knowing how to fall, followed by a quick response minimizes the effect of an injury.

After viewing the video, workers will have the knowledge and technique to safely use a ladder in an efficient manner.
