Mastery Celebrates Two Million Online Plays of Workplace Safety Training
NOVI, Mich. –Dec. 22, 2011– This December Mastery Technologies is celebrating the two millionth online play of their workplace safety training. In April 2003 Mastery started delivering online video training; this delivery method had a slow start with less than 10,000 plays in the first six months. As time progressed the number of plays rapidly grew, and by the end of 2009 Mastery delivered one million online plays. While the first million took a little over 6 years to achieve, the next million came in under two years. Mastery is expecting to see number three million come even sooner.
The two million plays represent online paid usage of Mastery ’s commercial products. Additionally, Mastery provides a selection of training courses developed for the purpose of providing free “community service” plays to individuals. Over the course of the recession Mastery has provided free safety training courses to around 20,000 individuals. Going beyond the community service training Mastery still retains a customer –base of at least 1,000 organizations still making use of CD–ROM and LAN–based training, which is not tracked with the online deliveries.
The number “two million” does not mean as much to Mastery as the impact safety training has on the American workforce. Safety training saves lives and prevents serious and debilitating workplace injuries. Mastery estimates they statistically have saved 81 lives and prevented over 30,000 workplace injuries with the two million online plays.
Workplace fatalities and injuries have declined since the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) was established. The combination of OSHA standards, companies training employees to meet regulations and advancements in safety control (safer workspaces, equipment and processes) has made a dramatic impact on workplace injury and death rates. In fact, OSHA cites workplace deaths per year have decreased from 14,000 in 1970 to 4,547 in 2010; all the while the number of working individuals has nearly doubled to 131 million workers.
Safety training does not merely present work practices to employees, it helps change behaviors. With the establishment of OSHA and training standards employers have led their workforces to adapt safe behaviors. The knowledge of safe work practices does not get left at the door as people transition from work to home life; instead people apply their safety knowledge to all aspects of their lives preventing injury and accidents around the clock.
Mastery is beginning to provide workplace training in areas outside the safety arena, such as business skills. William Marker, President of Mastery Technologies, says “While training on business skills doesn’t have the same impact as safety training, as far as saving lives goes, it provides great value to organizations.” Employees developing job skills help create more productive and stable enterprises. With the current state of the economy building stronger organizations helps provide job security and stability to families nationwide. By providing millions of plays of workplace training Mastery Technologies helps create amazing organizations.
