Overview

Performing work in a laboratory requires the use of chemicals and hazardous materials; it also requires the use of safety precautions to reduce the risk of these materials creating a dangerous situation. This online training video teaches employees working with hazardous materials in a lab the importance of reading and understanding the information contained in the Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).

This video course details the different types of information contained in the MSDS. This includes the substances Hazardous Ingredients and Physical Data. The Physical Data component of the MSDS gives instructions for identifying a chemical and provides ignition temperature and fire control measures for the substance. The online video discusses the Reactivity and Safety Measures and the Accident and First Aid sections of the MSDS. These sections help prevent dangerous reactions, explosions, and serious injuries. These sections also prepare workers to properly clean up spills and apply basic first aid.

This online course helps laboratory workers recognize the risks associated with hazardous materials by learning how to read Material Safety Data Sheets. Using MSDS correctly is a critical piece of creating a safe working environment in your laboratory.
