Oil spills are dangerous to the environment; they contaminate water and harm wildlife. However, oil is an important substance granting many benefits to society. It is important to know how to work with oil and other petroleum products safely. While spills sometimes occur they can be properly contained, reducing the chances of any negative effects.
This video prepares employees to work at sites where oil is used and stored. It explains the purpose and goals of regulations such as the Clean Water Act and the Oil Pollution Act. Viewers become familiar with the laws concerning oil safety companies must abide by.
Not every type of oil is regulated by the government. The types of petroleum and non-petroleum products regulated are listed in the video.
