Construction sites are especially vulnerable to fires. This safety training course teaches workers about the classes of fires, the different types of fire extinguishers, and how to use and maintain them.
Class A fires are fueled by combustibles such as paper, cardboard, and wood. The type of fire extinguishers that discharge water, foam, and dry chemical agents should be used to put them out. Class B fires are fueled by flammable gases, liquids, and plastics, and can be put out with fire extinguishers that discharge dry chemicals, foam, and carbon dioxide. The other classes of fire are: C fires which involve electricity; D fires involving combustible metals such as titanium; and class K fires which involve cooking oil, grease, and animal fats. Viewers learn which types of extinguishers to use on these classes of fire.
