Overview

This online training video discusses the precautions one should take when working around hazardous levels of noise. Highlighted in the video is what a person should know related to hearing loss, such as what causes it and how to prevent it. A detailed animation in the video explains how and why hearing loss occurs. Consistently being exposed to 80 decibels of noise for eight hours can damage one's hearing. Having and using the correct equipment to prevent hearing loss is imperative.

Two types of equipment generally used to prevent hearing loss are ear plugs or ear muffs. Although both serve the same purpose they work differently. This training demonstrates how to select the proper hearing protection and use it correctly based on the level of decibels your job exposes you to. Hearing loss due to noise is irreversible, making the use of hearing protection for prevention critical. Use this online training to understand how hearing loss works and what you can do to prevent it from happening to you.
